What Do You See

I watched everyone marvel at a majestic creature in its deserved right, but what for? What did they see, because I saw so much more than just obvious beauty?

Yes, its presence was undeniable. You saw it coming, and most stopped in their tracks to see it, but I felt most missed this creature's true identity.

This wondrous creature had no other creature like it in this space. Its movements were poised, its size and eloquence were outwardly magnificent.

I can see why everyone marvelled and took in the breathtaking view, but my heart also felt great sorrow as I saw something different.

A lone wolf, it was evident that everyone else was grouped and had their own tribe; it was easy to identify that they were all surrounded by their family.

But this grand creature stood alone as it circled the same familiar path I began to wander. Is he aimlessly gliding through the water, or is he hoping that this time there might be something new to see?

So I saw the grandiosity, the reason many marvel, but I also saw the lonely journey this creature takes and the limitations in its journey, and that's where I found my marvel.

I am in awe of its longevity, even when it often stands alone. Although significant magnitudes of life surround it, it never stays idle, and to me, that's the beauty of loneliness: the poise and the choice to continue on a path that has no assurance at all.
