To Be Authentically Brave

I have grappled with this notion of bravery for a while now as I have always gravitated to what I thought was its purpose, and for me, I thought its value was purely to be strong.

However, in a new season of struggle, I have discovered that true bravery exists in the vulnerability to expose yourself in a way that offers humility, compassion, and a willingness to learn and grow.

I am not denying my ability to withstand great battles in the midst of some chaotic moments. However, I also see this bravery in a meekness that comes from the authenticity of allowing yourself to be fully known.

I have been able to shift my mind to not just see that strength is the identity of bravery, but that strength can also be profoundly weighted when we reach out in moments we are alone.

It takes immense courage to reveal yourself in moments of need and desperation, and it's terrifying, especially if you are met with unresponsiveness or unwillingness to provide aid.

However, I have to believe and hope with what I have endured and experienced that, even if it takes time, it is worth the journey and perhaps here better quality of support is found when we wait.

So my friend, if you aspire to be brave, I hope you find your identity not just in your mountain-defeating moments, but also in the times you never give up and allow yourself to support and rest.

Your capacity to sustain in moments of endearment but also at the moment you share your level of despair, are both simultaneously the moments where you have sincerely given your best.
